The Alpen Haus hotel was the latest long-time Star Valley landmark to be torn down this spring.
According to John Woodward, Director of Planning and Engineering for Lincoln County, plans call for a new hotel on the high profile corner.
“So far there are no new permits,” he said. “They would like to have a hotel, a restaurant and to replace the C-store. The C-store would likely be replaced first.” Woodward said that there is a possibility of RV spaces in the area as well. Developers of the land also have some other irons in the fire. “Right now the infrastructure north of Alpine is in a little bit of flux,” Woodward added. There is a grant application and negotiations to allow the Town of Alpine to purchase the sewer collection and water distribution systems.”
